Last spring the NEIE students were in the process of learning about how Lake Erie directly impacts our environment and how we directly impact Lake Erie when we had to switch to a distance learning model. However, the “Protect Our Lake” project continued. The result of this project is a very unique storm drain marker that will be installed all over our North East School Campus as well as around Gibson Park. An informational banner on how you can help Protect Our Lake along with QR code links to how the markers were made can also be found at both locations this spring.
Protect Our Lake is a visual reminder to all about how important it is to keep pollution like trash, dirt, and oil out of our storm drains to help protect our amazing natural freshwater resource.
This project was made possible by the Bay Watershed Education and Training grant, however, the design, materials, labor, and time were all donated by individuals and businesses involved.
Special thanks to the Regional Science Consortium at Presque Isle.
